Affirmations

Affirmations

Scott Adams turned me on to affirmations. Basically the idea is that by saying something positive to yourself every morning you prime your entire life to work towards that goal.

What was mine? "I will improve, rock steady."

Why is it nice? Unless you're super depressed and you can't get yourself to say your affirmation not sarcastically, it helps start the day off on a nice note and keeps you

I started noticing affirmations everywhere in pop culture, but nowhere more than in rap songs. Future gave an interview to Spotify at the end of Dirty Sprite 2 talking about Fuck Up Some Commas and his music more broadly.

"I wanted the average person to feel like they wanted to fuck up some commas. It's just a motivational song. It makes you feel like you got a chance to do it. Like this song's gunna make you feel like if you don't have commas when you listen to this song you gunna feel like you fuck up some commas when it may only be a few hundred. That's what records are about: the feeling it gives you. No matter if you're rich or you're poor poor if you hear this song and say fuck up some commas. No matter if you're rich or you're poor if you hear New Bugatti you're gunna say 'I woke up in a new Bugatti.' You can walk, you can never own the car in your life, but you're gunna say this line. It's about feeling."

Yes, Future has a place on a TBI website.
